Vodafone makes it 5-6-13
February 10, 2007

Following up on their recent announcement of providing MySpace mobile content exclusively in Europe , Vodafone has announced similar deals with YouTube and Ebay. YouTube, MySpace and Ebay are rated the 5th, 6th, and 13th most viewed websites in the world according to Alexa.
Vodafone’s approach contrasts with other mobile operators, some of which are attempting to make their own video, music and social networking portals. There is an obvious advantage to Vodafone teaming with existing sites, however promoting the Vodafone brand and keeping ownership of the customers who are only interested in third party content will be the long term key. Vodafone is in part doing this by making the new content arrangements available through their own Vodaphone Live portal. No doubt cross pollinating other Vodafone Live content may be part of that strategy as eventually the exclusive agreements with YouTube, MySpace and Ebay could end.
